A Guide To Brazil

After the Cold War, political power in the world had become more distributed among more countries other than the United States and the Soviet Union, which has led to the emergence of major powers. A major power is a country or a state that is powerful enough to influence events throughout the world. The international media follows its actions, which is a sign of its vast political influence. Some examples of major powers include the United Kingdom, Russia, France, Japan, China, India and Germany. These countries exert influence over other countries and their actions can affect other countries as well. Among them, China and India have been considered as potential Superpowers.

Brazil as an emerging major power

In South America, an emerging major power is Brazil. This is because the country matches almost all the criteria of being a major power, which includes its population, considered to be the fifth largest in the world. Another criterion that Brazil is able to match is that it is an important commodity producer (minerals and agriculture). Brazil is also one of the world’s largest democracies and there are relatively few serious internal disputes. In recent times, Brazil has also been considered a leader among developing countries in the World Trade Organization especially on issues on agriculture. Alongside with Japan and Germany, Brazil is also claiming a permanent seat in the UN Security Council and it has also contributed to various peacekeeping missions around the world. More importantly, Brazil has the ninth largest GDP in the world and its economy is industrialized, which makes it an important player in capital markets.

However, there are some issues that hinder Brazil from being considered a major power such as having a large portion of its population living in poverty and having a poorly equipped military. It also has limited influence in international organizations as compared to other major powers and its economy is not considered strong enough to have considerable effect on the world economy. Lastly, the country has still not developed nuclear weapons, which is an important criterion for countries to be considered a major power.

Brazil can be considered an emerging major power because it can match most of the criteria of other major powers such as China and India. However, there are still some issues like poverty and a poorly equipped military that Brazil needs to address for it to be fully considered a major power.

Use a Check List to Save Time Packing

Some people pack for a trip by chaotically tossing everything (and anything) into a suitcase.

Packing for a trip then becomes a frantic, stressful activity often resulting in surprises (such as when you forget something).

Simplify packing by making a check list of everything that you need. If appropriate, prepare different versions of this list for different types of travel (such as, business, informal, vacation, conference, international, and so on). Organize these lists by grouping similar types of items, such as underwear, accessories, toiletries, and so on.

Save these lists as the first column of a table or of a spreadsheet, so it can be used several times.

Now, packing becomes a scavenger hunt to collect the things on the list.

Then check off each item as you put it in your suitcase.

This helps you save time in the following ways:

* It makes packing more efficient. I’ve found that packing takes half as long with a check list compared to without one.

* You will remember everything that you need.

* Preparing the list helps plan what to take. As a result, you will pack only what you need for a trip.

* Packing only what you need saves time when you unpack since you have fewer things to put away.

How To Eat Good Quality Food While Traveling

When you are traveling whether on the road or airport hopping finding good food to eat at a reasonable price is an important consideration. When you are traveling eating out at fancy restaurants can take you over your budget in a hurry. Take a look at some ideas to help you keep your food costs down and still enjoy your dining experiences.

First off, always be sire to eat a healthy breakfast if at all possible. If you are on the road you can stop in at a spot like a Waffle House or even better yet a mom and pop spot that will fill you up without killing your wallet. Don’t go for the quick fix of a bag of donuts from a convenience store. Eat something healthy like a bowl of oatmeal with some fruit and wheat toast. If you are lucky enough to be traveling in the Bahamas, try the local favorite, Fish and Grits!

Eat your largest meal at lunch time. Many establishments offer lunch specials that are bargains during this time. My advice is to sample the local cuisine, especially if you are in another country. This is always a cool experience and generally cheaper than try to find a burger! Also, you never know when you will be on a sightseeing tour and your stomach decides for you that it is time to stop and get something to eat. Take along some healthy snacks, like fruit, nuts, raisins, or peanut butter and crackers.

Many people think going to a grocery store while on vacation is totally taboo. The truth is you can save a ton of money and pick up some local favorites at a grocery store. If you are staying at a destination for more than a week or so grocery shopping pretty much becomes a necessity. When we stayed in the Bahamas last summer for a month we hit up the grocery store three days a week at least. With three teenage boys to feed, I had no choice!

If you are in an area that has small family owned or independent diners give them a try. You will often find much better process as well as better and friendlier service than the larger establishments. By taking advantage of the ideas I have shared with you, you will enjoy your vacation much more because you will not have to worry about the cost of each meal that you eat and hopefully I have convinced you to try the local fare.
